2. Principle

Dekodo has been developed in such a way that the data captured by scanning an invoice (input data) is not stored permanently and is not transmitted to our servers or to third parties. The input data is processed locally on your device and only for the duration of the respective session.

3. Data processing

The following data is processed in connection with the use of Dekodo:

  • Scanned invoice data (input data): The data captured when scanning an invoice is processed exclusively locally on your device and only for the duration of the session, in order to display the invoice to you. It is not stored permanently.
  • Server log data (website and app connection): When you visit a Dekodo website or the app establishes a connection to our backend (for example, to check whether a newer version of the app is available), technical connection data is automatically logged by our server or our hosting provider, in particular your IP address and other technical details regarding your browser, application and device. This data is processed for a limited period for security purposes and to ensure technical operations; it is not combined with other data, nor are individual users identified. No input data is transmitted in this process.
  • Crash and error reports: To improve stability and security, technical error and crash reports are transmitted to a data processor. For details and information on the transfer of data abroad, see section 4.
  • Usage statistics: Aggregated, anonymised usage statistics are collected to help improve Dekodo (e.g. regarding the frequency of use of individual functions). These do not allow individual users to be identified. For details of the service provider used, see section 4.

4. Service Providers and Infrastructure

To operate Dekodo, we use service providers who assist us in running and improving Dekodo and who act on our behalf:

  • Crash and error reports: To improve stability and security, we use a specialist service provider who processes technical error and crash reports within the EU. When a report is generated, the input data is removed so that the report contains only technical information about the error that occurred.
  • Usage analysis: We use a service provider to collect usage data for statistical purposes and to optimise Dekodo. This data does not allow individual users to be identified and provides only general information about usage behaviour (e.g. the frequency of use of individual functions).
  • Hosting and operation of the infrastructure: Our backend and websites are operated by an infrastructure service provider based in Switzerland. This provider processes the server log data referred to in section 3 exclusively on our behalf to ensure the provision and security of our operations.

5. No disclosure to third parties

We do not sell your data or disclose it to third parties for them to use for their own purposes. We only engage data processors who are contractually obliged to process the data referred to in clause 3 exclusively on our behalf and in accordance with our instructions (see clause 4). This is without prejudice to disclosure to supervisory, judicial or law enforcement authorities, insofar as this is required by law or necessary in response to a lawful request from a public authority.

6. Rights of data subjects

As Dekodo does not maintain user accounts and the scanned invoice data remains exclusively on your device, we do not generally hold any data that we could link to a specific individual. An exception to this is the server log data and error reports mentioned in section 3; insofar as these can be attributed to a specific individual, you may exercise the rights to which you are entitled under the applicable data protection legislation.

To exercise your rights or if you have any questions regarding data protection, you may contact us at any time (section 1).

7. Applicable law

The Swiss Data Protection Act (DSG) applies.

8. Changes to this policy

We reserve the right to amend this privacy policy, for example if the functions or legal requirements change. You can always find the latest version at https://dekodo.ch/en/privacy-policy/.
